Artist In CONVERSATION with

As an artist, I often have these existential crises every few years. In this space, I often ask myself, “What’s the point?” What’s the point of making art? What’s the point of all of this? We create all this work… and then, we die. That sounds kind of harsh, but that’s the reality of it. Our life is devoted to making, showing, and sharing, and then, it’s done. When I’m feeling this way, I often reach out to other artists and ask them - why do you make art? And in the past, this has helped me get out of my own spiral.

With this series, I want to ask other creatives a broader question: Why do you do what you do? Who are you as an artist? As a person? Perhaps there is a common thread, history, or philosophy that ties us all together as artists. Or perhaps there isn’t. And everyone has an entirely different story. A completely different message and method.
